Hello, I am Charlene Dimond. If you were to ask my loved ones to describe me in a few words, you would hear caring, determined, fiercely independent, and loyal. I credit these qualities to growing up as the middle child of seven. We shared everything!
I began my nursing career in 1997 after completing the BSN program at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. When I became a nurse, I intended to support, make a difference, and help people. All these years later, my intent is the same. Nursing is hard work mentally and physically. Patients and families increasingly rely on nurses to provide safe care, explain complex information, and provide emotional support during that vulnerable period of coping with an illness or health condition. Providing this type of care allows me to grow as an individual, witness the human spirit’s strength, and celebrate life in all stages. I still strived to get to the place where I “ loved to go to work” each day.
Life is hard when you’re not exactly sure what to do or where you are heading!
Something inside me kept pushing me to power through exploring different areas of nursing and, struggling to know that one day, everything will fall into place. I continued furthering my education on natural and complementary health practices, such as energy healing, aromatherapy, and medical cannabis. One day it finally clicked – I can work within the framework of evidence-based nursing practices AND incorporate healing arts AND natural medicine. Unfortunately, my job environment was not conducive to practice integrative nursing. Well, you have to start somewhere, right? I decided to start my own integrative concierge nursing business. I can now give my patients the time they deserve, and utilize the many aspects of whole person care that truly help a person heal. I value being a nurse more than ever.
